Its body was fusiform and hydrodynamic, with an elongated head, narrow rostrum, large eyes, a very short neck, compact trunk and limbs transformed into flippers. Its diet probably consisted mainly of fish, cephalopods such as belemnites and other small- to medium-sized marine animals.
