The original publication placed the material within an approximate interval of 5 to 1.6 million years ago, corresponding to coastal ecosystems of the Late Pliocene and the transition into the Early Pleistocene. Studies describe numerous small conical teeth located behind the symphysis, together with oblique wear facets on the labial surfaces of the lower teeth, suggesting repeated contact with the benthic substrate.
