Anzu (A. wyliei `Feathered Demon´) is a genus of oviraptorosaurian theropod dinosaur that lived during the Maastrichtian of the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 68-66 million years ago, in what is now North America.
The Anzu was around 3 meters tall and 4 meters long, and weighed around 500 kilograms. It was a bipedal dinosaur with a long neck and tail, and a relatively small skull compared to its body. It is believed that it had feathers on its body, giving it a bird-like appearance.
One of the Anzu's most notable traits is its large, curved claws on its front legs, which were useful for defense and hunting. It also had a strong, sharp beak with a prominent crest, suggesting that it was a carnivore that ate small animals such as lizards, snakes, and rodents.
The Anzu was discovered in the Hell Creek Formation in South Dakota in 1990, and was originally thought to be a different type of oviraptorosaur dinosaur known as Caenagnathus. However, later studies revealed that it was a separate genus and it was given the scientific name of Anzu wyliei.
Although relatively little is known about the Anzu, studies of its fossil remains suggest that it was an intelligent and agile animal, capable of moving quickly and adapting to different environments. Furthermore, the discovery of their bone structure and feather evidence suggests that oviraptorosaurs like the Anzu were closely related to modern birds.
