Austroraptor cabazai
Austroraptor cabazai is a species of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 million years ago, in what is now Argentina. This predator belonged to the Dromaeosauridae family, commonly known as "dromeosaurids" or "raptor dinosaurs", characterized by their agility and retractable claws on their feet.

With an estimated length of about 5 meters and a weight of around 300 kilograms, Austroraptor cabazai was one of the largest dromaeosaurids of its time. Its scientific name, which means "thief of the south", refers to both its place of discovery in southern Argentina and its role as a predator.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Austroraptor is its skull, which was long and narrow, with sharp, backward-curving teeth, ideal for tearing the flesh of its prey. In addition, like other dromaeosaurids, it had sickle-shaped claws on its hind limbs, which it probably used to hold its prey while attacking them.

The Austroraptor cabazai fossils were discovered in the Allen Formation in the province of Río Negro, Argentina, in a site that has also provided remains of other dinosaurs and prehistoric animals.
