Product details
Quetzalcoatlus is a genus of pterosaur belonging to the azhdarchid family that lived during the Late Cretaceous, approximately 70-66 million years ago, in what is now North America. It is known for being one of the largest flying vertebrates in history, with an estimated wingspan of between 10 and 12 meters and a unique skeletal design that combined lightness and strength, adapted both for flight and for a partially terrestrial life.
Skull and neck
The skull of Quetzalcoatlus is extremely elongated, reaching lengths of up to 2.5–3 metres (8–10 ft), depending on the individual. It is light and hollow, with wide openings that reduced overall weight, a crucial adaptation for flight. The jaw lacks teeth, as is typical in azhdarchids, but is sharpened into a beak, ideal for capturing small prey or carrion. The tip of the beak may have been covered in keratin, making it resistant to wear.
The neck is another prominent element of its anatomy, with exceptionally long and strong cervical vertebrae. These vertebrae are internally reinforced with trabeculae-like structures (cross-bone supports), which maximized strength and minimized weight. The design of the neck indicates that Quetzalcoatlus could easily hold and move its large skull, being able to feed both in flight and on land.
Body and spine
The body of Quetzalcoatlus is compact and lightweight, with a small ribcage in proportion to the animal's size. This reflects the typical structure of pterosaurs, designed to minimize body weight and facilitate flight. The vertebral column, especially in the thoracic region, is reinforced to withstand the forces generated during flight, while the pelvic region is robust enough to support the weight of the body on the ground.
Limbs and wings
The limbs of Quetzalcoatlus are one of its most distinctive features. The front legs are highly modified, with an extremely elongated fourth toe that served as the main support for the wing membranes. These wings could be extended to the enormous estimated span, providing an efficient flight surface capable of supporting the animal's large size. The wing's bony structure is made up of hollow but dense bones, a feature that combined lightness and strength to withstand the stresses of flight.
The hind legs are shorter and more robust, with a structure designed for walking on land. Fossil and biomechanical evidence suggests that Quetzalcoatlus was an excellent quadruped on land, moving with an efficient gait and using its folded wings for additional support. This would have allowed it to forage on dry land or take off from flat surfaces.
Sternum and musculature
The sternum is large and strongly ossified, providing an anchoring point for the pectoral muscles necessary for flight. Although Quetzalcoatlus was probably not an extremely agile flyer, its anatomy indicates that it was adapted for long-distance gliding flight, taking advantage of thermal and updraft currents to save energy.
Line
The tail of Quetzalcoatlus is short and stiff, a characteristic typical of advanced pterosaurs. This gave it greater maneuverability in flight by reducing the weight on the rear part of the body and centralizing the balance near the wings.
Size and functional adaptations
Estimated to have weighed between 200 and 250 kilograms (440 to 550 pounds ), Quetzalcoatlus was at the very limit of what was possible for a flying vertebrate. Skeletal adaptations such as reinforced hollow bones, an efficient wing design, and powerful musculature allowed it to take off from the ground and remain aloft. However, its size suggests that it spent much of its time on the ground, possibly as an opportunistic terrestrial predator that hunted small animals or scavenged.

Information about aftershocks
Collector's item ; Hyper-realistic replica, highly detailed and with a high degree of scientific precision.
Made to scale, prototyped in resin and with a scenic base in most of the models offered. If you like miniatures, both for collecting and for painting, we offer you a wide variety of scale replicas; All of them related to dinosaurs, extinct prehistoric fauna and current fauna.
So if you love dinosaurs and animals as much as we do, this is your favorite store to collect and paint them :)
We are authorized distributors of all the replicas and figures we offer. We use 3D printers with 8K - 14K resolution, and high-quality resins with additives to improve hardness and flexibility, thus offering replicas of impeccable quality.
Different scales will be used to make the replicas (depending on the size of the species), although we are open to making other suggested scales upon request as long as they fit in our printing trays, for which you will have to contact us via email and request the required size.
Replicas are supplied with the option of airbrush priming in dark grey. If you require another colour, please let us know which one you prefer in the box with special instructions for the seller. Without priming, we do not guarantee that the resin will accept paint.
We also offer the option of choosing a professionally painted replica, which is agreed upon throughout its development with the painter, through a private chat available.
Complete replica (one piece): We supply complete replicas in those models that are small, and models that are medium, large or not very bulky, will have the prerogative of being presented as a complete replica or assembly kit as the case may be.
Complete replicas will be supplied separately from their base.
Replica assembly kit: We supply replicas whose models are large, very large or bulky, only with this option.
The indicated replicas (generally composed of base, head, body and tail) will come prepared for the subsequent assembly that will be required by the client, by sanding, putty, adhesive or technique chosen by the client.
All replicas are thoroughly inspected before shipping and will be carefully packaged to prevent damage during transport.
Information about the models
The poses of the models aim to represent each character in the most scientifically viable way, thus revealing the life and customs of prehistoric and modern fauna.
Each character has its own personality and develops in different life scenarios; birth, adolescence and play, hunting, feeding, fighting, courtship, death and many other scenes from their daily life, always from the creative perspective of their designers.
Handmade
All orders are individually prepared on the cutter for subsequent prototyping, obtaining a resin part that will require post-processing by manual and ultrasonic cleaning, support removal, ultraviolet curing, labeling and packaging.
We are authorized distributors
We offer both our own physical replicas and those that have been modeled by many of the best 3D designers, in order to offer you the greatest possible variety.
