Product description and measurements

Sarcosuchus imperator was a gigantic crocodylomorph that lived during the Early Cretaceous, approximately 112 million years ago, in what is now Africa and South America. Belonging to the family Pholidosauridae , this semiaquatic predator coexisted with dinosaurs in the ancient river systems of the supercontinent Gondwana. With an estimated length of 11 to 12 meters and a weight of up to 8 tonnes , Sarcosuchus is one of the largest crocodylomorphs that ever existed, far surpassing modern crocodiles in size and predatory power.

The skeleton of Sarcosuchus displays a combination of traits that set it apart from living crocodilians. Its elongated skull , approximately 1.6 metres (5.6 ft) in length , had a morphology intermediate between that of modern crocodiles and gharials, with a long, narrow snout housing over 100 sharp, conical teeth , designed to catch fish and other aquatic animals. One of the most distinctive features of its skull is the presence of a bulbous protuberance at the tip of the snout, the exact function of which is still debated; some paleontologists suggest it may have served for sound resonance or to reinforce the skull structure during intraspecific confrontations.

The jaws of Sarcosuchus were extremely powerful, with a reinforced structure that allowed it to exert great pressure when closing its mouth. It is thought to have had a bite force comparable to or even greater than that of Tyrannosaurus rex , which would have allowed it to subdue large prey, including giant fish, young dinosaurs and other reptiles that ventured near the water.

The trunk and ribcage were massive, with thick ribs protecting its internal organs. Its vertebral column was reinforced with vertebrae interconnected by strong ligaments, giving it stability when moving through the water. Its tail was long and muscular, similar to that of modern crocodiles, suggesting that Sarcosuchus relied primarily on caudal propulsion to move nimbly in its aquatic environment.

Its skin was covered in osteoderms , which were bony plates embedded in the dermis that provided protection against other predators and potential confrontations with members of its own species. These osteoderms formed a dense armor on the dorsal part of the body, suggesting that Sarcosuchus had greater body rigidity compared to living crocodilians, possibly limiting its speed on dry land and favoring a predominantly aquatic lifestyle.

Sarcosuchus's limbs were short but robust, designed to support its colossal weight when it emerged from the water. However, its overall build indicates that it was not as efficient on land as modern crocodiles and probably spent most of its time submerged, stalking prey in Cretaceous African rivers and lakes.

Fossils of Sarcosuchus imperator have been found mainly in the Sahara Desert, in regions such as Niger and Morocco, within the Elrhaz Formation. These discoveries have allowed us to reconstruct its paleoecology and determine that it inhabited freshwater environments with an abundant fauna, including giant fish such as Mawsonia and dinosaurs such as Suchomimus , with which it may have competed for food.

The extinction of Sarcosuchus is attributed to environmental changes that transformed ancient rivers and lakes into arid regions, drastically reducing their habitat and food sources. Its study continues to provide key information on the evolution of giant crocodylomorphs and their relationship to Mesozoic ecosystems. Thanks to its enormous size and bone structure, Sarcosuchus imperator remains one of the most impressive prehistoric reptiles ever discovered.

Collector's item ; Hyper-realistic replica, highly detailed and with a high degree of scientific precision.

Made to scale, prototyped in resin and with a scenic base in most of the models offered. If you like miniatures, both for collecting and for painting, we offer you a wide variety of scale replicas; All of them related to dinosaurs, extinct prehistoric fauna and current fauna.

So if you love dinosaurs and animals as much as we do, this is your favorite store to collect and paint them :)

We are authorized distributors of all the replicas and figures we offer. We use 3D printers with 8K - 14K resolution, and high-quality resins with additives to improve hardness and flexibility, thus offering replicas of impeccable quality.

Different scales will be used to make the replicas (depending on the size of the species), although we are open to making other suggested scales upon request as long as they fit in our printing trays, for which you will have to contact us via email and request the required size.

Replicas are supplied with the option of airbrush priming in dark grey. If you require another colour, please let us know which one you prefer in the box with special instructions for the seller. Without priming, we do not guarantee that the resin will accept paint.
We also offer the option of choosing a professionally painted replica, which is agreed upon throughout its development with the painter, through a private chat available.

Complete replica (one piece): We supply complete replicas in those models that are small, and models that are medium, large or not very bulky, will have the prerogative of being presented as a complete replica or assembly kit as the case may be.
Complete replicas will be supplied separately from their base.

Replica assembly kit: We supply replicas whose models are large, very large or bulky, only with this option.
The indicated replicas (generally composed of base, head, body and tail) will come prepared for the subsequent assembly that will be required by the client, by sanding, putty, adhesive or technique chosen by the client.

All replicas are thoroughly inspected before shipping and will be carefully packaged to prevent damage during transport.

      Information about the models

The poses of the models aim to represent each character in the most scientifically viable way, thus revealing the life and customs of prehistoric and modern fauna.

Each character has its own personality and develops in different life scenarios; birth, adolescence and play, hunting, feeding, fighting, courtship, death and many other scenes from their daily life, always from the creative perspective of their designers.

      Handmade

All orders are individually prepared on the cutter for subsequent prototyping, obtaining a resin part that will require post-processing by manual and ultrasonic cleaning, support removal, ultraviolet curing, labeling and packaging.

      We are authorized distributors

We offer both our own physical replicas and those that have been modeled by many of the best 3D designers, in order to offer you the greatest possible variety.
