Product details
Tenontosaurus tilletti is a herbivorous ornithischian dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous, dated primarily between 115 and 108 million years ago (Aptian–early Albian), belonging to the Iguanodontia group and considered a relatively basal form within Ornithopoda. Its fossil remains have been found mainly in the Cloverly and Antlers formations of the United States, especially in the states of Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Texas, making it one of the best-represented herbivorous dinosaurs of the North American Early Cretaceous. The species was formally described by John Ostrom in 1970 and has since acquired great paleoecological relevance due to its frequent fossil association with the dromaeosaurid theropod Deinonychus antirrhopus, a relationship that has been interpreted as possible evidence of active predation or scavenging.
From a biometric point of view, Tenontosaurus tilletti reached average lengths of between 6 and 8 meters, although some exceptionally developed individuals may have slightly exceeded these dimensions. Body mass in adults would range approximately between 1 and 2 tons, depending on the degree of maturity and the volumetric estimations used in recent reconstructions. It had a robust and elongated body, supported by powerful and relatively long hind limbs, while the forelimbs, although shorter, were remarkably developed compared to more basal ornithischians. This suggests facultative quadrupedal locomotion: it probably walked on four legs during slow grazing, but could adopt bipedal locomotion for rapid displacement or defensive situations. The tail was extraordinarily long and rigid, reinforced by a complex network of ossified tendons that helped maintain body balance and stabilize the torso during movement. In fact, the name Tenontosaurus literally means "tendon lizard," in reference to these exceptionally visible fossilized structures.
The skull was relatively narrow and elongated, with a snout adapted for efficient vegetation collection. The dentition consisted of laterally compressed teeth specialized for plant cutting, organized into dental batteries less complex than those observed in later hadrosaurids, but sufficiently efficient to process fibrous material. Microscopic studies of dental wear and mandibular biomechanics indicate that it possessed relatively advanced chewing movements for a basal iguanodontian, allowing it to crush tough vegetation with some effectiveness. It likely fed on ferns, horsetails, cycads, low-lying conifers, and the first expanding angiosperms during the Early Cretaceous.
Regarding its ecological habits, Tenontosaurus tilletti would have been a medium-to-large generalist herbivore, occupying an intermediate niche between agile small ornithopods and large high-browsing sauropods. The abundance of fossil remains suggests that it was a very common species in its ecosystem and possibly gregarious, although evidence of structured social behavior remains debated. Some sites contain multiple individuals of different ages, which could indicate temporary groupings or family herds. Its considerable size would provide some protection against smaller predators, but juveniles and subadults would be vulnerable to theropods such as Deinonychus. The frequent taphonomic association between both species has led to hypotheses about cooperative hunting, although many paleontologists currently consider it more prudent to interpret these accumulations as opportunistic scavenging events or circumstantial predation.
The habitat of Tenontosaurus tilletti was dominated by extensive subtropical riverine plains with alternating open forests, swampy areas, and low-energy river systems. During the Early Cretaceous, much of North America had warm climates with marked wet and dry seasonality, favoring abundant vegetation capable of sustaining dense populations of large herbivores. The associated fauna included other ornithopods, armored nodosaurids, remnant sauropods, and various predatory theropods. Within this ecological context, Tenontosaurus played a fundamental role as a primary consumer of plant biomass and as an important trophic resource for the large carnivores of the ecosystem.
More recent investigations into bone histology indicate that Tenontosaurus tilletti exhibited relatively fast growth rates in juvenile stages, with a progressive slowdown upon reaching maturity. These studies suggest a more active metabolism than traditionally attributed to modern reptiles, compatible with intermediate physiological models between strict ectothermy and partial endothermy. Likewise, contemporary phylogenetic analyses continue to refine its evolutionary position within Iguanodontia, placing it as a key taxon for understanding the evolutionary transition between basal ornithopods and more derived hadrosauriformes.

Collector's item ; Hyper-realistic replica, highly detailed and with a high degree of scientific precision.
Made to scale, prototyped in resin and with a scenic base in most of the models offered. If you like miniatures, both for collecting and for painting, we offer you a wide variety of scale replicas; All of them related to dinosaurs, extinct prehistoric fauna and current fauna.
So if you love dinosaurs and animals as much as we do, this is your favorite store to collect and paint them :)
We are authorized distributors of all the replicas and figures we offer. We use 3D printers with 8K - 14K resolution, and high-quality resins with additives to improve hardness and flexibility, thus offering replicas of impeccable quality.
Different scales will be used to make the replicas (depending on the size of the species), although we are open to making other suggested scales upon request as long as they fit in our printing trays, for which you will have to contact us via email and request the required size.
Replicas are supplied with the option of airbrush priming in dark grey. If you require another colour, please let us know which one you prefer in the box with special instructions for the seller. Without priming, we do not guarantee that the resin will accept paint.
We also offer the option of choosing a professionally painted replica, which is agreed upon throughout its development with the painter, through a private chat available.
Complete replica (one piece): We supply complete replicas in those models that are small, and models that are medium, large or not very bulky, will have the prerogative of being presented as a complete replica or assembly kit as the case may be.
Complete replicas will be supplied separately from their base.
Replica assembly kit: We supply replicas whose models are large, very large or bulky, only with this option.
The indicated replicas (generally composed of base, head, body and tail) will come prepared for the subsequent assembly that will be required by the client, by sanding, putty, adhesive or technique chosen by the client.
All replicas are thoroughly inspected before shipping and will be carefully packaged to prevent damage during transport.
Information about the models
The poses of the models aim to represent each character in the most scientifically viable way, thus revealing the life and customs of prehistoric and modern fauna.
Each character has its own personality and develops in different life scenarios; birth, adolescence and play, hunting, feeding, fighting, courtship, death and many other scenes from their daily life, always from the creative perspective of their designers.
Handmade
All orders are individually prepared on the cutter for subsequent prototyping, obtaining a resin part that will require post-processing by manual and ultrasonic cleaning, support removal, ultraviolet curing, labeling and packaging.

We are authorized distributors
We offer both our own physical replicas and those that have been modeled by many of the best 3D designers, in order to offer you the greatest possible variety.
