Product details
Tiktaalik roseae is a fossil vertebrate from the Late Devonian (approximately 375 million years ago) that represents a morphological and functional intermediate form between lobe-finned fish and the first limbed vertebrates (tetrapods). The genus Tiktaalik was first described following discoveries in 2004 in rocks of the Canadian Arctic, on Ellesmere Island (Nunavut) , and constitutes one of the best examples of transition in the fossil record between exclusively swimming aquatic life and forms capable of supported movement out of the water.
Morphologically, Tiktaalik combined classic fish-like features with adaptive changes that enhanced its mobility out of water. Its body was dorsoventrally flattened, with a broad, flat head , upward-facing eyes, and a long, crocodile-like snout—attributes that facilitated prey detection in shallow environments. It possessed fish-like scales and fin rays , but its pectoral and pelvic fins exhibited more complex articulation with long bones and multiple joints , allowing for postures reminiscent of primitive limbs, including shoulders and elbows capable of supporting flexion. These structures included an expanded set of endochondral bones and synovial joints that functionally resembled the distal limb bones of early tetrapods.
Recent anatomical studies have revealed further details about the skull structure and axial skeleton of Tiktaalik . The cranial endoskeleton shows a combination of primitive and derived features, with cranial articulations that favored greater head mobility, and a bone pattern that suggests adaptations for eating and breathing in shallow environments. CT-based reconstructions have shown that the ribs were likely attached to the pelvis , a feature that would have helped support the torso against gravity out of the water and is interpreted as a precursor to the evolution of walking in terrestrial vertebrates .
In terms of size, the most complete remains suggest that Tiktaalik could reach lengths of around 2.7 to almost 3 m , being a freshwater aquatic predator with sharp teeth and a body prepared both to swim and to make use of its fin structures to hold on to the bottom of shallow watercourses or in soft ground near the riverbank.
The habitat of Tiktaalik roseae consisted of river systems and freshwater wetlands in subtropical floodplains of the Late Devonian, environments characterized by shallow waters, seasonal channels, and riparian vegetation, creating an ecological mosaic in which a semi-aquatic lifestyle provided adaptive advantages. This ecology is inferred both from the geology of the formations where the fossils were found and from the combination of anatomical features that suggest both swimming and substrate-borne locomotion.
Evolutionarily, Tiktaalik roseae plays a crucial role as a transitional form in understanding how vertebrates transitioned from a purely aquatic lifestyle to one with the ability to briefly explore terrestrial environments. This includes not only the evolution of structures capable of supporting body weight out of water, but also changes in the head, neck, and feeding habits that foreshadow later adaptations in the first true tetrapods.
Approximate measurements of the Tiktaalik:
- Complete 1:20 Scale
- Length 92 mm
- Height 38 mm
- Width 69 mm
- Snout-tail length 135 mm
Information about aftershocks
Collector's item ; Hyper-realistic replica, highly detailed and with a high degree of scientific precision.
Made to scale, prototyped in resin and with a scenic base in most of the models offered. If you like miniatures, both for collecting and for painting, we offer you a wide variety of scale replicas; All of them related to dinosaurs, extinct prehistoric fauna and current fauna.
So if you love dinosaurs and animals as much as we do, this is your favorite store to collect and paint them :)
We are authorized distributors of all the replicas and figures we offer. We use 3D printers with 8K - 14K resolution, and high-quality resins with additives to improve hardness and flexibility, thus offering replicas of impeccable quality.
Different scales will be used to make the replicas (depending on the size of the species), although we are open to making other suggested scales upon request as long as they fit in our printing trays, for which you will have to contact us via email and request the required size.
Replicas are supplied with the option of airbrush priming in dark grey. If you require another colour, please let us know which one you prefer in the box with special instructions for the seller. Without priming, we do not guarantee that the resin will accept paint.
We also offer the option of choosing a professionally painted replica, which is agreed upon throughout its development with the painter, through a private chat available.
Complete replica (one piece): We supply complete replicas in those models that are small, and models that are medium, large or not very bulky, will have the prerogative of being presented as a complete replica or assembly kit as the case may be.
Complete replicas will be supplied separately from their base.
Replica assembly kit: We supply replicas whose models are large, very large or bulky, only with this option.
The indicated replicas (generally composed of base, head, body and tail) will come prepared for the subsequent assembly that will be required by the client, by sanding, putty, adhesive or technique chosen by the client.
All replicas are thoroughly inspected before shipping and will be carefully packaged to prevent damage during transport.
Information about the models
The poses of the models aim to represent each character in the most scientifically viable way, thus revealing the life and customs of prehistoric and modern fauna.
Each character has its own personality and develops in different life scenarios; birth, adolescence and play, hunting, feeding, fighting, courtship, death and many other scenes from their daily life, always from the creative perspective of their designers.
Handmade
All orders are individually prepared on the cutter for subsequent prototyping, obtaining a resin part that will require post-processing by manual and ultrasonic cleaning, support removal, ultraviolet curing, labeling and packaging.

We are authorized distributors
We offer both our own physical replicas and those that have been modeled by many of the best 3D designers, in order to offer you the greatest possible variety.
